Helping Others

This church has had a long history of mission projects and missionary involvement to care for people both in our local community and around the world. This team brings before the congregation specific projects for their participation.

Childrens Ministry

First Congregational Church of Claridon is dedicated to making a lasting impact on our children and youth, through our Sunday school classes, our community summer Vacation Bible School, confirmation classes for young people, and seasonal special family events.

Food Collection

Throughout the year folks bring in non-perishable goods and paper products as needed by our local food pantries. We have baskets in the foyer to receive donations. Before the Super Bowl we annually hold a "Soup-er" Bowl drive, bringing in cans of soup.

Awards

People who are graduating high school students, high school graduates, or college students typically apply in February and March.  They desire to further their education through a traditional college, trade school, or the equivalent. Applications are advertised through our church, area high schools and two local newspapers.

Thanksgiving & Christmas Families

Each year we are given the names of one or two families in financial need from Geauga Jobs and Family Services. We bring in donations of ingredients for their Thanksgiving dinner. We also have a small tree in the church foyer with their wish list items, to provide them with Christmas gifts.

Thanksgiving Dinner

Our church hosts the organization Claridon Community Helps, a group of persons who put on a monthly community meal and summer lunch program for children who are in need. We are honored to allow this group to use our kitchen and social hall.

This is an annual drive to benefit those who are food insecure and in need of food assistance, through a walk for hunger that is held in the fall.
